As a sophomore, Adel broke out and averaged 12.1 PPG, 4.5 RPG, and 2.1 APG, while starting 30 of the 33 games he played in. In a December game against Southern Illinois, Adel recorded his first career double-double, tallying 12 points, 12 rebounds, and 2 assists to power the Cardinals to a 23-point win. In 2 games in the 2017 NCAA tournament Adel averaged 16 PPG, 3 RPG, and 1.5 Assists while going 4-6 from 3pt range. Following his sophomore season Adel was named to the 2017 All-ACC Academic Men’s Basketball team. Coming into his junior year Adel was named to the preseason All-ACC second team and the Wooden Player of the Year watch list. In his junior year Adel improved his averages to 15 PPG, 5.2 RPG, and 2.8 APG, while shooting 35% from 3pt range. In a mid-season matchup against Virginia Tech, Adel scorched the Hokies for a career high 27 points, adding 11 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 block en route to his 2nd double-double of the season. In the ACC championship tournament, Adel averaged 14 PPG, 6 RPG, and 1.5 APG, while registering 5-10 from 3pt range. Following his junior year Adel earned Honorable Mention All-ACC selection while being named to the All-ACC Academic Men’s Basketball team for a 3rd consecutive year.
