BREAKING: Artūrs Kurucs (Baskonia) has been selected as a 2020 Professional Basketball Combine honoree. Kurucs, a Cesis, Latvia native and 2020 NBA Draft early entrant, spent the 2019-20 season on loan from Baskonia to VEF Riga where he showed tangible growth and development, shining as one of the top young shooters in Europe.
Kurucs, a strong performer for the Latvian team in the FIBA U18 Euro Championship A and FIBA U19 World Cup over the past two years, appeared in 25 Latvian-Estonian Basketball League games and 14 Basketball Champions League games with VEF Riga this past season, averaging nearly 13 PPG on a 40+ 3P% clip across both competitions. Kurucs has one of the purest shooting strokes in the draft class, as well as some ancillary lead guard skills that have carried with him from his youth point guard experience.
Kurucs has since returned to Baskonia for the start of the 2020-21 Spanish ACB season, but remains draft-eligible as an early entrant. The brother of Brooklyn Nets forward, Rodions Kurucs, will look to follow in his brother's footsteps and carve out an eventual role in the NBA.
We are excited to welcome Artūrs Kurucs to the PBC family and look forward to all of his future success in professional basketball!
