BREAKING: Emmitt Williams (LSU) has been selected as a 2020 Professional Basketball Combine honoree. The former top-30 high school recruit tested the 2019 NBA Draft waters, returned for a strong sophomore campaign, and is now keeping his name in the 2020 NBA Draft pool as an early entrant. In two seasons in Baton Rouge, the Fort Myers native accumulated 649 points, 386 rebounds, 50 assists, 35 steals, 60 blocks, and 6.7 win-shares.
Williams, a former 40+ point scorer in the Jordan Brand Classic, is a tough, physical, explosive force in the paint. While he would have been considered "undersized" as a forward in previous eras, Williams perfectly fits the mold as a modern hybrid forward with the strength and length (nearly 6'11" reported wingspan) to guard opposing bigs.
While his 42.1 3P% was on a very limited sample size this season, Williams year-over-year uptick in FT% from 68.6% as a freshman to 76.9% as a sophomore on nearly double the volume is certainly encouraging of potential incremental shooting improvement in years to come.
Williams is a fiery, high-energy player who battles for rebounds, dives on loose balls, runs the floor, and makes the opposition work for everything. His game is conducive to gelling with stars, and projects to translate cleanly as a complementary forward in today's small-ball heliocentric style of play.
We are excited to welcome Emmitt Williams to the PBC family and look forward to all of his future success in professional basketball!
