BREAKING: Osasu Osaghae (Florida International) has been selected as a 2020 Professional Basketball Combine honoree. In four seasons at FIU, the Miami native accumulated 767 points, 616 rebounds, 27 assists, 53 steals, 249 blocks, and 9.1 win-shares. Osaghae made his mark as, perhaps, the best rim-protector in the country, finishing his senior campaign as the nation's leader in blocked shots, blocks/game, and BLK%. The 2019-20 Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year is an absolute force in the paint, making full use of his ~7'3" wingspan to deter shots at the rim. Osaghae also made encouraging leaps on the offensive side of the ball this season, finishing 3rd in the nation in FG% behind only Udoka Azubuike (Kansas) and fellow 2020 PBC Honoree, Sha'Markus Kennedy (McNeese State). Osaghae saw significant year-over-year upticks in PPG (+4.7), FG% (+7.6%), FT% (+9.1%), and USG% (+3.6%), all of which are promising indicators of continued growth and expansion of his offensive game. Osaghae, who didn't pick up a basketball until he was 16, has followed a non-traditional path to becoming an NCAA statistical leader and NBA prospect, but his sharp development curve and willingness to put in the work (former walk-on, dropped ~60 lbs. in the months leading to his enrollment at FIU) should be enticing to potential professional suitors. We are excited to welcome Osasu Osaghae to the PBC family and look forward to all of his future success in professional basketball!
