Burnett spent one year at the University of Miami (FL) before transferring to Ole Miss. In 64 career games with the Rebels the 6’2” guard averaged 15 PPG, 3.5 APG, and 2.1 RPG on 36.9% shooting from 3pt range. As a redshirt junior, Burnett averaged 16.5 PPG, 3.2 APG, 2.1 RPG, and 1 SPG while converting at a 37.6% clip from 3pt range. In an early season matchup against Oral Roberts, Burnett set his scoring career-high by torching the Golden Eagles for 41 point, adding 4 rebounds and 4 assists to cap off the winning effort. In the SEC championship tournament Burnett averaged 19.5 PPG, 2.5 RPG, and 1.5 APG while converting 4-9 3pt attempts. In the second round of the NIT, Burnett dropped a career-high nine assists to go along with his 19 points, leading Ole Miss to a victory over Syracuse. As a senior this season, Burnett registered a stat line of 13.5 PPG, 3.9 APG, and 2.0 RPG. In a January matchup against Alabama, Burnett turned in a season-high 24 points to go with 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals in a winning effort against the Tide.
